Michael Duetsch studied chemistry at the University of Hamburg and obtained his PhD from the University of Göttingen in 1993. After a postdoc at the University Paris-Sud he switched to Goldschmidt AG in Essen, where he became director of the laboratory. In 2000 he became Manager for Corporate Strategy at SKW Trostber AG, and in 2001 Vice President for Corporate Development at Degussa AG in Düsseldrof. In 2004 Michael Duetsch switched to BASF where he became head of Research for Construction Systems and for New Business Development & Global Technologies. In 2010 he became Managing Director of Construction Research & Technology GmbH. In 2011 he switched to UPM Gmbh, since 2002 he acts as Vice President and Managing Director. Since 2017 Michael Duetsch is also member of the chair of Bavarian Bioeconomy Council, and since 2019 member of the chair of the association Bioeconomy e.V.
