Impressions of the 3rd SmartProSys Symposium
29 September - 1 October 2025 | Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg - Festung Mark
The 3rd SmartProSys Symposium brought together over 120 participants including researchers, industry partners, and interdisciplinary experts at Festung Mark, Magdeburg to exchange ideas on sustainable chemical production and circular carbon strategies. Over three inspiring days, participants explored the theme:
"Smart Process Systems for a Green Carbon-based Chemical Production in a Sustainable Society."
A sincere thank you to all speakers, contributors, and participants who brought this event to life with their insights and engagement.
Key Topics and Insights
The symposium offered a rich program structured along different scientific and technological levels: process level, molecular level, systems level, computational systems and algorithms. Scientific talks, poster sessions, and informal networking breaks fostered in-depth discussions and interdisciplinary collaboration — especially between early-career researchers and senior experts.
The representative of the Ministry of Science in Saxony-Anhalt, Peter Hinrichs and Prof. Jens Strackeljan, Rector of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, honoured us by attending our symposium and delivering the opening speeches.
We would particularly like to thank our invited speakers, who travelled from all corners of the globe to attend the symposium, as well as all other presenters, poster authors, and discussion leaders for your inspiring contributions and commitment to pushing the boundaries of smart and sustainable process systems.
The symposium once again underlined the value of interdisciplinary, system-oriented research in achieving a circular and sustainable carbon economy. Many of the presented projects offer great potential for future collaboration — and we look forward to continuing this work together.
